The Southwest Mississippi Genealogical Society was founded in the year 2000, uniting those with similar interests in researching the history of their families.
To promote genealogical research in Southwest Mississippi; to provide research materials and equipment for use by the membership; to answer queries from researchers seeking information from this area; and provide for public access through the Pike-Amite-Walthall public library system headquartered in McComb, Mississippi.
We meet every other month (January, March, May, July, September, and November) at 6 PM at J. W. White Memorial Presbyterian Church located at Delaware Avenue and Third Street in McComb . Anyone interested in genealogy is welcome to attend our meetings. We have interesting speakers on historical happenings in Pike County as well as on genealogy research methods and sources of information.
If after visiting with us, you decide to become a member, you will find our dues are very reasonable: $15.00 annually for an individual membership or $25.00 annually for a family membership. Our fiscal year starts on June 1.
We welcome all and would love to have you visit us at our next meeting. See the column on the right for meeting information.
